SusRES Conference Kara 2022

On 22 July 2022, the SusRES conference took place once again, joining a series of successful academic events jointly organised by Kara University and Wildau University of Applied Sciences. After the conference had to be held as an online event for two years due to the global Corona pandemic, all stakeholders now met at the University of Kara in Togo. This year's theme was "Solar energy systems - the sun as an inexhaustible source" and the scientists spent a day lecturing and discussing important sustainability issues. Two exciting key-note lectures were followed by contributions from authors from 6 countries.

Opening of the Center for Regenerative Energy Systems

A highlight was the opening of the Center for Regenerative Energy Systems (cenRES Center). In his speech, the German Ambassador to Togo, H.E. Matthias Veltin, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the countries of the region: "(...) in order to provide an effective means of countering climate change as well as poverty. Renewable energies, especially electrical energy, bring light, communication and driving power for machines to the region. They thus contribute to economic development and social participation."
